African American Hebrew Worshippers Discovers Igbo Roots, to Visit Nigeria-Igbo Mandate Congress Plans Symbolic Welcome
Igbo Mandate Congress IMC, Foremost Igbo Intelligence based organization and pressure group hereby wishes to inform Ndigbo worldwide that the first batch of Black Americans,, seven in number, who profess their Jewish and Igbo Ancestral roots, are set to visit Igboland on a second fact finding mission.
The second visit was a follow-up to the earlier one of October 2023, when they came and held fruitful discussions with the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Woldwide leadership on their Igbo Ancestry. They were personally received by Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu at his country home in Owerri in his capacity as the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
Igbo Mandate Congress has obtained the full itinerary of the visit which includes stopover at Lagos, Abuja, Government House Awka, and notable traditional institutions across Igboland.
The leader of the delegation coming to Nigeria is Apostle Dr Gloria Jean Harris, Leader Beth-el International Mission Newark, NJ and assisted by Prof Elder Cynthia Marie Shefton, Adjutant Professor of Psychology at Essex Country College, NJ . The other five African Americans are distinguished professionals in agriculture, real estate, corporate business organization and manufacturing sector.
Their principal mission is to finish the process of tracing their ancestral root to Igboland, and obtain a firsthand report analysis for onward transmission to the rest of the numerous African Americans desirous of partnering with their root. Another objective is to assess the level of economic development in their Igbo Ancestral land, partner with willing businesses for accelerated development of the South East especially in the areas of Agriculture, healthcare, manufacturing, real estates, including affordable housing models.
The visiting delegates will meet with designated government officials, traditional rulers, cultural and religious leaders of Igboland and the leaderships of Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide.
Their visit include courtesy calls on some state governors, symposiums, interaction with Igbo academia, historians and clergy and the setting up of successful business models for those aiming for business expansion.
To this effect, Igbo Mandate Congress do hereby notifies all its members in different walks of life to actively participate in ensuring that the delegation on fact finding mission experiences the true Igbo spirit of hospitality, entrepreneurship, courage and witty invention.
Igbo Mandate Congress do hereby recall that many black American celebrities have traced their ancestral route to Igboland, including celebrated American preacher, Bishop Dr TD Jakes, celebrated Actor, Filmmaker , John Whittaker among others.
Recall that in 2016, Igbo Mandate Congress was in partnership with Diamond Youth Transformation Initiative for a two-day programme tagged SEYES that drew Isreali Investors to the first ever investment summit in Igboland. The two-day oversubscribed programme had over four thousand registered participants who were trained, with additional follow up by the Israeli delegation led by DR Kaspi Yoram (Expert Administrator) and Dr Dvora Anat Perl (Agriculture Expert) while Dr David Day was a key facilitator.
The Programme Father of the Day was Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife (former governor of Anambra State, former political Adviser to ex-President Obasanjo) and the Chairman of the Occasion was Prof Chinedu Nebo (former Vice Chancellor University of Nigeria, former Nigeria Cabinet Minister of Power) the host was Dr Uchechukwu Ekpere Paul (Chairman Diamond Youth Initiative) and the Programme Director was Rev Obinna Akukwe (Director General, Igbo Mandate Congress) among others. The programme held at The Dome Event Centre on the 5th and 6 th October, 2016, New Haven , Enugu.
Igbo Mandate Congress is hopeful that the return of the seven African Americans to their ancestral roots, and their good report back to the rest thousands desirous of partnering with their forgotten heritage, will lead to the strengthening of democratic institutions, and accelerated development of Igboland in particular and Nigeria in general.
