Igbo Mandate Congress IMC announces the death of Rev Dr J J
Emesin, father of Pentecostal revival in the South Eastern part of Nigeria.
This sad event took place on the 7th of December,
2015 at our Lord’s Hospital Ukpor, Anambra State, a day after he agreed to be
admitted into a hospital.
Until his death, Rev Dr Emesin trained about eighty percent of notable gospel ministers
from the South East before and after the civil war and his input was instrumental to the famous Pentecostal
revival which broke out in the zone in the early seventies when
preaching with Bible was a taboo in the Igbo dominated area. Rev Dr Emesin was the rallying point of the
young generation of vibrant, tongue talking
young men and women who abandoned the world and sought for Jesus as
though there will be rapture the next day.
Rev Dr Emesin inculcated into them a sense of abandonment of
self to Christ, and stood by them when the orthodox Catholic and Anglican Missions
fought the revivalist movements. A
highly educated personality, Pa Emerson got further training in the United
States of America where he also established some mission stations before
returning back to Nigeria after a few years.
Pa Rev Dr Emesin trained notable gospel ministers like Rev O
Ezekiel, leader of Christian Pentecostal
Mission CPM, Bishop Dr Paul Nwachukwu,, Leader of Grace of God Mission, Bishop
Dr Edward Ezenwaforof Our Generation Gospel Ministries, Archbishop Dr A A
Nwodika of Throne of Grace MissionBishop Benson Ezeokeke (late) of Salvation
Gospel Mission, Bishop OC Dominic, Bishop Goddy Nnaji, Bishop Tim Obidike, among
others;
Notable Bishops and Pastors from all over Nigeria, including
late Archbishop Benson Idahosa occasionally sought counsel from the great sage.
Pa Rev JJ Emesin was well attended to by his personal assistant
of twenty eight years, Rev Mike J Nnamekwe of God’s Nation Builders Pentecostal
Mission, Aguleri , thirty minutes before he died. He also passed on some
special messages to another of his prophetic son, Pastor Emma Okonkwo of Truth
and Life Charismatic Gospel Mission, Enugu, ten days to his death.
The Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, South
East Zone, and one of the sons of the prophet, Archbishop Professor David
Ebelechukwu had set up a burial committee headed by Rev Alphonsus Ginikanwa to
give the prophetic legend a befitting celebration of life.
Rev Dr Emesin also passed a message across to the Director
General of Igbo Mandate Congress, Rev Obinna Akukwe through a son of the
prophet, ten days before his death, an
assignment which had been carried out already by the group.
Igbo Mandate Congress condoles with his younger sister and
brother, Dr Mrs Ngozi Ajemba and Pastor Arthur Emesin respectively for the
prophetic home going and takes consolation in the fact that an hour before he
died at 3am, he told his PA and sister to go and rest because he himself wants
to have a good rest.
